Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, is the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity
established for Black University students and was founded in 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, USA by seven college men who
recognized the need for a strong bond of Brotherhood among African descendants
in the US. Today, Alphas still uphold the principles of scholarship,
fellowship, good character, and the uplifting of humanity.
The objectives of Alpha
Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. are to stimulate the ambition of its members;
to prepare them for the greatest usefulness in the cause of humanity,
freedom, and dignity of the individual; to encourage the highest and
noblest form of manhood; and to aid downtrodden humanity in its efforts
to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status. Our motto
is “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All.”
Epsilon Theta Lambda Chapter
was founded on February 21, 1950. Our Chartering members were: Collingwood
Burch; Dr. Eustace Cann; Lawrence Clarke; Roy Dismont; Frederick Furbert,
JP, Hilton Hill, II MBE, Alfred Hinson; Dr. Charles Smith; Dr. Thomas
Stowe, MBE, JP; Winton Williams
Who is
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Epsilon Theta Lambda Chapter?
We are Architects and Attorneys; Accountants and Bankers; Dentists
and Doctors; Educators and Entrepreneurs and even Politicians and
Pastors. We are everyday men who work collectively to uphold our Fraternity
aims of “Manly deeds, Scholarship and Love for all Mankind”.
The Fraternity
has also dedicated itself to training a new generation of leaders
with mentoring programs and partnerships designed to ensure the success
of our children and youth. We accomplish this locally through our
“Math Attack Mentoring Program”,
“Project Alpha”, "ABC (Alpha, Bigs and Children) “Alpha Beautillion”
and “Voteless People is a Hopeless People” programs
and Cub Scout project.

The National Programs and
Special Projects are all part of the Fraternity’s Male Enhancement
Mentoring Implementation Model. The Model stresses the academic, personal,
social and leadership development of young males.
